Continuing their offensive production, the Cerritos College men's soccer team scored a season-high six goals on Tuesday in a 6-0 non-conference won over Glendale College. The Falcons (5-2-1) were led by sophomore Jose Lopez (MY Academy HS), who scored four goals. It was the first hat trick for a Cerritos player since Armando Ibarra, Jr. scored three goals against Compton College on October 8, 2021. The team will close out their non-conference schedule on Friday at 4:00 p.m. when they host Los Angeles Pierce College.

The Falcons, who have scored 11 goals in their last two games, needed only four minutes to get on the board, as freshman Allan Gonzalez (Lakewood HS) finished off a play that was started on a nice rush and pass from sophomore Donovan Perez (South East HS). Just nine minutes later and Cerritos was up, 2-0, as Lopez scored his first of three on the day. Gonzalez picked up his second point of the day, as he fed Lopez with a fine pass through the Vaquero defense.

It looked like Cerritos would add to their lead when they were awarded a penalty kick. However, Pedro Reyes (Connections Academy HS/Cal State Fullerton) was turned away on a save by Glendale goalkeeper Hayk Tovmasyan in the 15th minute. The Falcons took 10 more shots by the end of the first half and took a 2-0 advantage into intermission.

Not missing a beat, they came out in the second half and continued to pressure the Vaquero defense. It took less than a minute for Lopez to score his second goal of the game, and then added his third just four minutes later to increase the lead to 4-0. After several substitutions to give more players time on the field, Perez made it a 5-0 game with his first of two goals to go along with his career-high three assists.

Perez closed out the scoring for the Falcons in the 64th minute with his second goal. In all, Cerritos had 35 shot attempts, with 29 of them on goal.

The freshman goalkeeping tandem of Griffin Welch (Long Beach Poly HS) and Eduardo Enriquez (Linda Esperanza Marquez HS) combined to make four saves.
