CHABOT BASEBALL TEAM DRIVING TOWARD ITS GOALS

The Chabot baseball team has won five of six games after splitting a pair last week.
The Gladiators (9-6) won their fifth in a row in thrilling fashion, beating Cabrillo 8-7 on a walk-off double by Jon Jon Gazdar on March 3. Quinn Ayres and Jaylean Higgins scored on Gazdar's clutch knock.
"Great TEAM win," declared head coach Will Tavis.
Ryan Muir struck out four in 1.2 innings of relief to pick up the pitching win. Matt Sugden was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI. Justin Durflinger had a double and two RBI, and Brian Duroff was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
The Gladiators used six pitchers as starter Bryce Clarke allowed three hits and no runs over three innings.
Chabot also dropped an 8-1 decision to Ohlone on March 5. The Renegades were ranked No. 13 in the Feb. 16 CCCSIA State Poll. Alonzo Guijarro slugged a home run and Fred Ramos doubled to highlight Chabot's effort.
The Gladiators are at College of San Mateo on March 8 and will host the same Bulldogs on March 10. Both games start at 2 p.m.
