SANTA ROSA – Freshman Chelsea Sandoval picked a tremendous time to score the first City College of San Francisco goal of her career.
In the 78th minute, Sandoval took a pass from Kendall Carr and deposited her shot past Santa Rosa Junior College goalkeeper Brooklyn Martens for what proved to be the game-winner to complete an amazing 3-2 come-from-behind win over previously unbeaten and the No. 5 state-ranked Bear Cubs on Tuesday.
The Rams have now won four straight games and improved to 4-1-1 overall.
San Francisco trailed early, falling behind 2-0 after Santa Rosa goals in the 3rd and 30th minutes.
Nelzy Dominguez gave the Rams life, scoring off the assist from Sandoval in the 35th minute to send CCSF into halftime down 2-1.
The two squads battled in the second half until Anahi Gomez score the equalizer with assist from Catherine Cordova Bobadilla in the 74th minute. Four minutes later, Sandoval came through in the biggest moment of the young season.
The Rams' defense was able to hang on as goalkeeper Bailey Perales was credited with two saves in helping lead CCSF to the win.
San Francisco will look to keep the momentum going next Tuesday (Sep. 24) when the Rams host San Joaquin Delta College in a 2 p.m. non-conference game.
