Cypress, Calif. -- For a majority of the first half, tonight's home game against Long Beach City College, seemed like it would remain a close fought battle. The Vikings had different plans however and came away with a decisive victory over the Chargers, 85-56.
At the half the Chargers found themselves down by only 8 points, 47-39. In the second half the Chargers were only able to put 17 points on the board. Turnovers plagued Cypress throughout both halves and is what ultimately stopped Cypress from being able to score as much in the second half and allowed Long Beach to pull away with a large lead.
Leading the way for the Chargers offensively was David Gonzalez with 18 points. Gonzalez was 4 of 8 for 50% from behind the 3-pt line. Robby Weaver added nine points coming off the bench by shooting a perfect 3 for 3 from 3-pt range. As a team the Chargers shoot 36.5% from the floor and 40% from 3-pt.
The loss drops the Chargers overall record to 2-4. The Chargers will look to improve as they head to the Grossmont Tournament Dec. 6-8th.
