Taking on La Sierra University, a NAIA school located in Riverside, the Cerritos College women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie on Friday. The Falcons (1-4-2) outshot the Golden Eagles on the day, 10-8, but could not slip a shot into the net. The team will play their second of three consecutive road games next Tuesday when they travel to Ventura College for a 6:30 p.m. non-conference match.

La Sierra tested freshman goalkeeper Alexis Bakalar (Los Alamitos HS), making her first start of the season, with two shots on goal in a five-minute span early in the first half. It would be the only two shots on goal she would face before stepping aside for freshman Trinidad Arizmendi (El Rancho HS) in the 24th minute. By contrast, the Falcons got the first shot on goal to start the game, but would not get another clean look the remainder of the half.

Cerritos did have more scoring chances in the second half, with freshman Ariana Rivera (Long Beach Millikan HS) taking three shots, with none of them requiring a keeper save. Freshman Jenna Santos (St. Joseph HS) had two of the team's four shots on goal, with La Sierra registering three shots on goal in the game.
