Sophomores Shine in Win

Citrus College Women's Soccer defeated Bakersfield College 2-1 last night, Tuesday, November 12th in their last home game of the season and the annual Sophomore Night Game. 

Citrus College improves to 13-3-2 overall on the season and 9-3-1 in conference games while Bakersfield College goes to 6-10-4 overall and 3-7-3 in conference games. 

Both sides came out ready to play, taking shots on goal early. In the 28th minute, Sarah Nelson fired her third shot of the game, finding the back of the net to put the Owls ahead 1-0. 

The Renegades scored an equalizing goal in the 45th minute to make the score 1-1 going into halftime. 

Citrus College opened the second half aggressively earning four corner kicks and taking five shots within the first 15 minutes of the half. In the 79th minute the Owls took a 2-1 lead when Aubrianna Mejia lobbed a cross over the Bakersfield defense right to Sarah Nelson for her second goal of the game. Citrus played great defense for the remainder of the game and did not allow the Renegades any space to create opportunities. 

On a night when the Owls' Sophomores were honored, they stepped up to earn a win in their final game inside Citrus Stadium. 

Citrus College will matchup with Glendale College in their final regular season game of the year, this Friday, November 15th at 2 p.m.
