Riverside City College dominated its way through two days of the Cuesta Invitational Friday and Saturday, winning all four games to start the season 4-0.
The Tigers got the season off to a solid start with a 13-5 victory over Orange Coast College after opening the game with six unanswered goals. Yosra Elseifi led the Tigers with five goals and an assist, while Clare Baty chipped in three goals and Chandler Burrell and Annabella Storar each dished out three assists.
RCC followed with a 16-7 victory over host Cuesta College Friday afternoon, once again led by Elseifi. The freshman rattled in six goals on eight shots, while goalie Tea Summers had five assists and Presley Burrell finished with four assists.
To kick off day two, the Tigers blasted Cerritos College 16-0, scoring six goals in the first quarter alone. Ava Brown led Riverside with four goals, while Jewels Longoria-Morasky, Naomi Morales and Ashlynn Dodson each had three goals. Kirsten Maag grabbed the shutout with seven saves in the cage.
The Tigers had to battle in their final game of the tournament but held on to an 8-7 victory over Long Beach City College. Elseifi and Baty each had a team-high two goals, while Aleira Valenzuela, Samantha Thomas, Burrell, and Storar also found the back of the cage. Sofia Mather made 10 saves in the cage to pick up the win.
RCC looks to carry momentum into its next contest, heading to Cypress College on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 3 p.m.
