SMC opens conference play on the road with a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-8, 25-14) over Glendale, and a 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 20-25, 15-13) overtime nailbiter over rival Bakersfield.  SMC has played the toughest preseason in the state, and has dealt with some injuries to key personnel.

In Week 7 Annah Legaspi, freshman libero from West Torrance HS, took over the state lead in Digs/Set (5.59). Annah is also #5 in total digs (324) despite playing 4-6 less matches than those ahead of her on the charts. Week 7 Totals were 51 digs, 8 Aces, 6 Assists and a 2.31 passer rating on 35 receptions. Annah had 18 digs, 5 Aces and 3 Assists to open conference play in a 3-0 sweep over Glendale, then capped the week with another 33 digs, 3 Aces and 3 Assists in a 5 set victory over rival Bakersfield College.

SMC resumes conference play at home this week.  On Wednesday October 9 we square off against Citrus at 6pm with our Dig Pink awareness night.  Then Friday October 11 we square off against perennial powerhouse College of the Canyons coached by SMC Alum Clay Timmons.  The Friday match is also a 6pm start and is a BLACK OUT match.  Fans should wear pink on Wednesday, and all black on Friday.
