Palomar Cruises Past San Diego City to Stay Perfect in PCAC Play

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/10/2025) -- The Palomar College women's basketball team moved to 2-0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) play with a commanding 90-59 victory over San Diego City College on Friday night. With the win, the Comets improved to 10-6 on the season, showcasing their depth and balanced scoring in a dominant performance at home.

Kylee Trujillo was electric, leading all scorers with 25 points on an efficient 9-of-16 shooting, including seven three-pointers. Nevaeh Mageo added 17 points, draining five shots from beyond the arc, while Kailani Flournoy delivered a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, dominating in the paint and on the boards. Teanna Alaman also contributed 13 points and seven rebounds to round out the strong starting five.

Palomar's defense was relentless, holding City to just 28.6% shooting from the field and 10.5% from three-point range. The Comets capitalized on their defense, forcing 19 turnovers and converting them into 21 points. They also outpaced the Knights on the fast break, scoring 21 points to their opponent's two.

The Comets controlled the game from the start, racing out to a 27-11 lead in the first quarter. They continued their dominance throughout, outscoring City College in every quarter and finishing with a 31.8% three-point shooting performance. Palomar also asserted themselves on the boards, outrebounding City 58-35, with 12 second-chance points.

Palomar's strong showing at home sets the tone as they prepare for their first conference road game of the season. The Comets will head to Grossmont College on Wednesday for a 5 pm matchup.
