Rams beat Ohlone 16-11 in home opener

SAN FRANCISCO – The City College of San Francisco women's water polo team closed out its opening week with a huge win, a 16-11 triumph over visiting Ohlone College on Friday.

The victory came two days after the Rams officially began the 2024 season with a tough 17-3 loss at College of Marin on Wednesday.

Keianna Pineda led CCSF with 5 goals in the win over Ohlone. Remy Dizon and Cristina Bracamontes both scored 4 goals each, and Serawit Ezra added 3 goals. Rachel McCarty was instrumental in the victory as she totaled 8 assists.

In goal, Shanagh Dely totaled 9 saves.

CCSF head coach Phong Pham was extremely proud of his team after Friday's game.

"We played with a great effort today," said Pham. "Hopefully we will continue to make progress and continue to improve each day."

The Rams were able to bounce back from the loss at Marin. Pienda netted a pair of goals while Dizon also scored.

CCSF is 1-1 overall and in Coast Conference action after their opening games. The Rams next travel to Las Positas College for a 3 p.m. conference game on Wednesday (Oct. 2).
