Eagles Win 2 of 3 to Start Campaign

The MSJC men's basketball team opened their season by winning two of their first three games.

The Eagles started the season in San Diego where they won a pair of games played at Cuyumaca College. MSJC opened the two-day event with a 105-80 victory over Imperial Valley. The Eagles pulled away in the second half after leading at the break 44-41. Azmar Sabb led the offensive attack with 19 points. Elijah Edwards added 17 while Adrian Mosley posted a double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Kristian Jemerson and James Freeman IV both added 11 points.

Saturday the Eagles once again pulled away in the second half to earn a 90-64 win over Cuyumaca. This time RJ Dawson led a balanced offensive attack for MSJC with a game high of 16 points. Mosley scored 15 points while both Sabb and Freeman had 10 each. Armani Battiste grabbed a team best 7 rebounds in the contest and Kameron Manning-Fuimaono passed out a team high 4 assists.

The Eagles hosted Mira Costa on Wednesday in their home opener and lost a tight one to the Spartans 80-77. MCC led by four at the half and built the lead to as much as 11 in the second half before the Eagles closed the gap. Edwards had a solid game for MSJC with a game high 19 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Gary Dotson added 17 points for the Eagles and Freeman scored 9 and had 7 boards.

The Eagles continue their busy start to the season with a game Saturday at LA Harbor beginning at 3 pm. MSC returns home on Monday night when they host Santa Monica at 6.
