Playing with intensity and enthusiasm, the Cerritos College women's soccer team came within a minute of playing to a scoreless draw against #19-ranked Long Beach City College on Tuesday. Not allowing the Vikings (5-1-3, 1-0-0) a shot on goal for the final 45 minutes of the game, the Falcons surrendered a goal in extra time, which allowed LB City to post a 1-0 decision. Cerritos (1-6-4, 0-1-0) will travel to #3-ranked Pasadena City College for a 1:30 p.m. game on Friday.

Through the first 15 minutes of the game, the Falcons attacked the Long Beach City defense and got off three shots on goal, with Jessica Arroyo (Buena Park HS) accounting for two of them. By contrast, the Vikings only had one of their two shots reach goalkeeper Trinidad Arizmendi (El Rancho HS), who came up with the saves.

The lone goal of the game came on a corner kick, where Lorena Moreno sent the ball into a cluster of players, where Laila Alfadhiel was able to chip the ball past Arizmendi.
