
SAN FRANCISCO – The City College of San Francisco women's basketball team got the 2024-25 season off to an impressive start.
The Rams lived up to their No. 9 preseason state ranking as they cruised to a 72-29 victory over visiting Foothill College on Friday.
After a close opening quarter, the Rams kicked their opening-night jitters, got to work, and cruised to the victory. CCSF led 18-14 after the first quarter before outscoring Foothill 28-4 over the next two periods to pull away.
Freshman Alessandra Nelson had a big CCSF debut, scoring a game-high 18 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Fellow freshman Jordyn Owyoung added 14 points and sophomore Malea Scobie posted 13 points and 6 boards. Sophomore Madison Thomas led with 11 rebounds to go with 8 points while To'shia Reynolds contributed 3 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and a pair of steals.
The Rams, now 1-0, are back in action next Saturday (Nov. 16) when they will compete at the two-day Santa Rosa Crossover. CCSF is set to face San Joaquin Delta College on Saturday ta 5 p.m. and host Santa Rosa on Sunday at 3 p.m.
