Men's volleyball holds off Miramar College for important conference win

The San Diego Mesa men's volleyball program currently sits atop the PCAC after defeating Miramar College 3-2 on Wednesday.  With new bleachers being installed inside the Mesa College gymnasium, this contest was played at Miramar College. 

March could not have started any better for the Olympians. Not only are they undefeated and riding a four-game win streak, they are also playing better team volleyball and the serving has drastically improved.The Olympians beat Fullerton College 3-1. 3-0 against Golden West College. 3-2 against Santiago Canyon and most recently 3-2 against Miramar. 

In the five-set thriller against Miramar College, both teams shared their ups-and-downs. Neither could separate from each other until the fifth and final set saw Richard Aguiniga score 3-points with some great execution and aggressive serving. With the momentum clearly with Mesa, the team was able to hold a 6 point lead the rest of the match and was closed  with a kill from Isaack Grant on match point.

Standouts:

TJ Letuligasenoa: 17 kills, 1 Error/37 att., .432 hitting eff.

Santiago Mantovani: 4 solo blocks and 4 block assists

Richard Aguiniga: 24 assists and 10 digs in 3 ½ sets played

SD Mesa College will travel north to face the Comets of Palomar in another important conference matchup on Friday, March 17th.
