SAN MARCOS, CA (9/10/2024) -- The Palomar College women's soccer team secured their first win of the season in commanding fashion, defeating Pacific Coast Athletic Conference opponent Imperial Valley College 5-0 on Tuesday.
Sophomore Maddie Spielman opened the scoring for the Comets, netting two goals in the first half, the first off a well-timed assist from Naomi Allen and the second following a setup by Ashley Clark. Clark then took charge in the second half, scoring two goals of her own. Her first came off an assist from Cameryn Clark, while her second was delivered by Macey Edemann, who registered two assists on the day.
Abigail Reyes capped off the victory with a final goal late in the match, also assisted by Edemann.
Freshman goalkeeper Giana Velasco made her first career start for Palomar and earned a clean sheet, keeping Imperial Valley off the scoresheet with a strong defensive performance.
With this win, Palomar improves their record and looks to carry the momentum forward as they continue conference play.
