
Men's Basketball Blows by Barstow at Home Motors Tournament
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team secured one win and suffered two losses at the annual Home Motors Tournament last weekend. The three-day event was held inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium on November 22-24. | TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
The Bulldogs losses came against two top-ranked teams in No. 12 San Jose City (85-70) on opening day before a narrow 73-67 loss to No. 7 San Diego City on Sunday. Coach Aye's squad now holds an overall record of 3-4 on the season after the weekend competitions.
Hancock bookended the ranked showdowns with a 63-48 win over Barstow on day two after leading the way from start to finish. AHC outrebounded the visitors, 49-37, and managed to convert 18 Vikings turnovers for 13 points on the opposite end.
Ay-Keen Richardson, who picked up an All-Tournament Team nod on Sunday, followed with 19 points and a 4-for-7 finish from distance. The sophomore from Germany led all competitors with a 22.7 points per game average at the tournament.
Mykel Valrie led all scorers on the day with 20 points after coming off of the bench, while Noah Morris hauled in a team-high mark of 11 rebounds. Trenten Lavender and Owen Ubaldo rounded out the top performers with a balanced performance. Lavender dished out five assists while scoring as many points and securing eight rebounds. Ubaldo tacked on seven points and five rebounds.
The Bulldogs will continue non-conference play on Wednesday, November 27th, with a trip to Cerritos College.
