Softball Clinches Playoff Berth with Victory Over Santa Monica, 8-0

Cuesta Softball clinched its first CCCAA Playoff Berth since 2015, after beating Santa Monica, 8-0, in five-inning, Run-Rule victory.  The triumph over the visiting Corsairs, locked Cuesta into 2nd place in the Western State Conference with a 11-2 record against the circuit with one game to play.  The Cougars own a full two-game advantage over both Santa Barbara and local rival Allan Hancock, who are tied for 3rd in the loop and hoping for an at-large berth.  Cuesta Pitcher Hannah Hollingsworth saved her finest outing of the season for end.  She authored a 4-hit shutout, without allowing a runner past second base.  On offense, the Cougars were off from scoring pace of their first meeting with the Corsairs, 31-3, but did have a trio players enjoy a multi-hit game.  On offense, Hollingsworth's Batterymate, Catcher Danya Boyd, joined Third Baseman Hailee Bussard as they each had two hits, including a Double apiece, and combined to score three runs to lead the offense.  Outfielder Ashley Kober also enjoyed a multi-hit game, but also stole a base and scored, while also driving in a pair of runs.  The Cougars are currently 22-14 overall on the season.

Cuesta Softball concludes the regular season with their final WSC next Tuesday (2:30) at Moorpark.  The Raiders are undefeated against the WSC circuit and hold a two-game lead over the Cougars.  The CCCAA Playoffs are set to begin on Tuesday, April 30.
