
The state #19-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team got back to serving and defending better in a 4-set victory at Irvine Valley, 25-16, 24-26, 25-23, 25-12, on Friday night.
The Lancers (5-7 record) landed 15 aces, five by defensive specialist Marina Segura and four more by libero Juyeon Lee, while Lee led the defensive brigade with 23 of the team's season-high 98 digs. Segura added 14 digs.
Biko Hollie posted a double-double on 16 kills (hit .262) with 17 digs while Chayse Hoon blasted a season-best 18 kills.
Kamea Vongfak added 36 set assists, two aces and two blocks, Mahrie Bedjakian four kills, Elena Uribe two kills, Brianna Galvan two kills and two blocks, and Maggie Hunter three kills and five digs. Daniela Millot made eight digs, Shaylee Ungos contributed three kills, eight assists, and nine digs while Emily Licon collected two aces and five digs.
In the fourth set, Lee served on a 7-point run to make it 20-10 as PCC closed out the match.
The Lancers travel to face #17 Santa Barbara City College on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m.
