Oxnard College Celebrates Sophomore Day with Resounding Victory over Moorpark College

Oxnard College's baseball team delivered an impressive performance on Sophomore Day, clinching a commanding 9-2 victory over Moorpark College at the Oxnard College field.

In a game that showcased the Oxnard bats and terrific performance on the mound, Oxnard's players exhibited their determination, securing the win in front of the Condor Faithful.

The game started with Moorpark taking an early lead in the 1st inning as Mingyu Kim's double brought Daniel Orozco home. However, Oxnard quickly responded, with Danny Lucero scoring on a wild pitch to tie the game.

The momentum shifted further in Oxnard's favor in the 2nd inning when Justin Bouts blasted a homer, giving Oxnard a 2-1 lead. Oxnard continued to build on this lead throughout the game, with standout performances from players like Luis Luhrs (3 2B's), who delivered three RBIs including a crucial double in the 3rd inning.

Oxnard's pitching was equally impressive, with Nathan Hernandez leading the charge with a stellar performance, allowing only two runs over seven innings while striking out four batters. Andrew Leff and Matthew Simental provided solid relief pitching to secure the victory.

"This win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players," said Coach Hernandez. "They showed incredible resilience and teamwork on the field today, and I couldn't be prouder of their performance."

The victory may have delivered a blow to Moorpark's playoff aspirations.  Oxnard has been hot at the end of the season take tough games at Ventura and Hancock as well.  OC will travel up to San Luis Obispo to finish their season at Cuesta College tomorrow.
