In what has been an amazing 2024 season, the Pasadena City College women's soccer team broke the school record for longest win streak set earlier this year by the Lancers. PCC collected its eight straight victory, blanking host Compton College, 7-0, behind the third hat trick of the season by South Coast Conference-leading scorer Charlie Gallardo.

State #2 Pasadena upped its overall record to 16-1-1 and officially placed second in the SCC North Division at 8-1 as Mt. San Antonio wins the title at 9-0. Pasadena did earn the #2 seed overall for the SCC Tournament as it will host a game v. an opponent to be determined on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The Lancers had won seven straight games in pre-conference play from Aug. 23 to Sept. 13 to originally set a new school record for longest victory streak.

"I'm immensely proud of this team and all that we have accomplished," said PCC head coach Terryn Soelberg. "They deserve all the accolades as they are an incredible group of young women."

Gallardo is tied for #7 with Vanessa Capra (2011-2012) on the PCC All-Time Scoring List with 66 points (26 goals, 14 assists). The sophomore midfielder scored two goals on hard attempts from 15 and 17 yards that opened a 2-0 lead at Compton by the 13th minute. She rifled in a long-range, 25-yard shot with more than two minutes left in the game for her third goal.

She had netted earlier hat tricks v. Santa Barbara City and LA Harbor and she now has seven multi-goal games (five this season) in her Lancers career. Currently, Gallardo is 11th in the state in scoring with 40 points.

Hailey Hull, Adamari Polanco, Alexa Espinoza-Gutierrez and Presley Gomez each added a goal as Gomez became the 18th player on the roster to reach the goal sheet this season.

Itzel Nunez, Raylyn Laney, Nadia Aguilar and Espinoza-Gutierrez all picked up assists.

The team upped another school record for most team shutouts, now with 12. PCC has outscored opponents, 61-9, in 18 games.

The squad is currently tied for #3 in power points with SBCC (2.4444) and trail #1 Cypress and Saddleback in the South Region ratings that determine postseason playoff seeds.

PCC's rating will likely go up with the two SCC Tournament games. The team will either compete in the championship final or third place final on Thursday, Nov. 14 at championship site El Camino College. If the Lancers won the SCC tourney, they would receive an automatic bid to the regionals although the top 24 teams overall in the region will qualify for spots.

The Lancers will host a SoCal Regional Playoff Round 2 game on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Robinson Stadium. Time and opponent to be determined.
