SBVC Races Past Huskies to Open Campaign

Coming off a 2023 season in which the San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer tied the school's record for most victories in a season, the 2024 team was looking to build upon the success of last season.

And it only took the Wolverines less than seven minutes to get on the board, as SBVC scored twice in each half as they beat East Los Angeles College 4-0 Friday night inside SBVC Stadium.

The Wolverines scored twice off of free kicks in the first half. In the seventh minute, set up about 25 yards from goal, Andrew Herrera ran over the ball and Ezequiel Soto looped the ball into the penalty area where Eric Ramos slid in and deflected the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead.

In the 40th minute, the Wolverines had a free kick from the right sideline, about 10 yards from the end line. The ball was sent into the mix, where the ball was deflected on goal and saved by Thomas Ibarra. The rebound, however, fell to Jeremy Hurtado, who tucked the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead.

SBVC then scored twice in a three minute span early in the second half. Saul Ruiz collected a pass from Jordan Guerrero to make it 3-0 early in the 51st minute. Then, in the 53rd, Abram Arujo found Eric Ramos streaking down the left side, and he shot from a sharp angle for the game's final goal.
