For the first time in three years, the Compton College women's volleyball team returned to the floor. While Compton lost to Fullerton in three hard-fought sets, 25-20, 25-22, 21, on Friday, the match also marked the school's head coaching debut for Moe Scott.

The collegiate debut of 5-foot-11, middle blocker Victoria Sibrian was a great one as she scored 14 kills, 13 digs, four blocks and two aces. Setter Rebecca Miramontes played well as she dished out 13 assists, made eight digs and served four aces.

Outside hitter Miranda Infante added four kills in just five swings while outside hitter Abigail Gooch added nine digs.

Other Compton players expected to be part of the regular rotation are outside hitter Pressure Sighn, libero Joshlynn Lopez, the team's lone sophomore, setter/right side hitter Kaylen Baruch, and 5-10 middle blocker Farai Orea, and defensive specialist/libero Brianna Mendez.

Compton will next play at Chaffey College on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m.

Scott's crew will play its home opener on September 25 in a South Coast Conference crossover match against Los Angeles City College at 6 p.m.

Compton is part of the SCC South Division as it will compete against Long Beach City, Cerritos, El Camino, and LA Harbor.
