Cuesta Women's Hoops Falls to Ventura, Cougars Host LA Mission on Saturday

Tonight, the visiting Ventura Pirates came to SLO with a losing record, 5-9, but the jumped out to take the lead after the first quarter, 17-13.  Cuesta bounced back took a one-point lead into the intermission, but the Bucs pushed back and outscored the Cougars down the stretch for the win, 69-63. It has been three decades since Cuesta Women's Basketball has defeated their Western State Conference rival Ventura and, after tonight's loss, their next chance shall be the day after Valentine's Day in Ventura. 

All-WSC Forward Reese Pasternik led the Cougars with a game-high 21 points, while also adding six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.  Former Morro Bay HS Alums Bella Musolff and Fiona Durham also gave Ventura fits.  Musolff scored 13 points, while dishing out a game-high six assists, and Durham netted 17 points of her own.  

The setback dropped the Cougars 11-8 overall and back to .500 against the WSC at 2-2.  The Cougars shall stay home this weekend and host another WSC game against LA Mission on Saturday (3 PM).
