SBVC Baseball falls to the Panthers, 6-2

SBVC (20-12; 16-4) had a tough time at the plate, only securing one hit, but had a fantastic performance on the mound and amazing defensive plays that held up for seven innings, but the magic slipped away and the Rancho Cucamonga Chaffey Panthers (17-14-1; 13-8) snapped SBVC's 13 game winning streak, 6-2.

Sophomore right handed starting pitcher Brandon Conlon (3-5) (Norco H.S.) tossed eight and a third inning of fantastic baseball, while there were many hits given up, only two runs came across through seven. His line ended up reading, five runs, four earned, on 14 hits, walking one and striking out five. Sophomore right handed pitcher Luis Villarreal (Colton H.S.) closed out the ninth giving up a run, unearned, on two hits.

Chaffey opened up the scoring in the top of the first and held that two run lead until the bottom of the fifth when SBVC tied the game at 2-2. A lead off ground out, led to back-to-back-to-back walks by sophomore third baseman Andrew Ramones (Redlands Citrus Valley), sophomore designated hitter Kurtis Kloke (San Bernardino Cajon) and sophomore center fielder Titus Carlson (Moreno Valley Valley View). On the very next pitch, the Panthers were called for a balk, bringing in Ramones from third. The next batter struck out and then sophomore first baseman Aaron Cisneros (San Bernardino H.S.) drew a walk to load the bases a second time in the inning. Freshman second baseman Jonathan McCray (Riverside Martin Luther King, Jr.) punched an infield single back to the pitcher and Kloke scampered in from third to tie the game at 2-2.

The tie would hold until the top of the eighth, when Chaffey added two runs and then the Panthers would add two more runs in the top of the ninth.
