Women's Basketball Beats Santa Ana, 56-32

Women's Basketball hosted Santa Ana College for a single game and handed the Donas a loss, 56-32.  The Cougars jumped out early and built a ten-point lead in the first ten minutes of the contest, but Santa Ana cut the Cougars advantage to only three points at the intermission, 26-23.  Coach Casey Blair's halftime adjustments put Santa Ana back on their heels as the Cougars held them to only two points in the third quarter and only nine points in the second half.  All-WSC First Team Guard Reese Pasternik (pict-L) led Cuesta's offense with a game-high 20 points, nearly equaling their foe's total, while Fowards Kaylee Batten and Fiona Durham dominated the boards and rarely let Santa Ana get a second shot attempt on offense.   Durham (pict-R) and Batten corralled 15 and 12 rebounds, respectively, including ten defensive rebounds each to help deny the Donas a second shot.  Batten, with ten points, also joined Pasternik and Santa Ana's Kiki Graham, who scored 14 points, as the only players to reach double-digit point totals.  The Cougars are now 3-2 on the season.

Cuesta Women's Basketball is back in action when the travel to El Cajon to face Grossmont next Friday (5 PM).  They will also stop on the way home in Fullerton to play the host Hornets on Saturday (5 PM).
