Cagers Triumph Over Porterville on Record Night, 101-58

Cuesta Women's Basketball easily handled visiting Porterville, 101-58, while eclipsing the century mark for the first time this season and sixth time on record.  The Cougars jumped out early and took a 21-10 advantage after the first quarter but tacked on another 20 points to their lead before the intermission for an insurmountable, 51-21, advantage.  The Cougars cruised through the second half on their way to victory and the program's sixth 100-point game, 101-58.  Returning Starters Reese Pasternik (pict-R) and Bella Musolff (pict-L) led the way for the Cougars with milestone games of their own.  Pasternik scored a game-high 42 points to break Vanessa Hornbuckle's established record of 41 points set in 1989.  Pasternik sank pair of free throws to set mark, while also pushing the score into triple digits for only the sixth time in Cuesta History.  Returning Point Guard Bella Musolff continues the "Musolff" legacy at Cuesta, where her Grandfather Ed Musolff coached the women's team for 30 years, while her uncle and aunt both donned the green and black while playing for the Cougars.  Musolff scored only six points on the night, but dished out a career-high 11 assists to help her teammates complete the blow-out.  Her 11 assists tied the Cuesta record for assists in a game with five other people.  The mark was first set in 1997 by fellow Morro Bay Alumnae and Cuesta College's 1997 Athlete of the Year Nece Bonds.  Cuesta is currently 4-4 on the season.

Women's Basketball shall continue their homestand with home games against El Camino this Friday (6 PM) and Cabrillo on Saturday (3 PM).
