Cuesta Women's Volleyball dropped it opening set to rival Allan Hancock, 25-18, which marked the first set they have given to the Bulldogs since also dropping the opening set in an eventual Cuesta four-set victory on November 13, 2015. Like they did a decade ago, Cuesta's Spikers regrouped and closed out the match with back-to-back 25-17 victories and a 25-20 closer. In the opening set, the two rivals shared the first 18 points, but then Allan Hancock went on a 12-5 run to take control of the set and grab a win. However, Cuesta did not allow the Bulldogs another long leash to open a game and put their local rivals on their heels by opening each of the next three sets on a 10-3 run. The victory moved the Cougars record to 11-10 overall and 2-3 against the Western State Conference.
Women's Volleyball shall complete its first swing through the Western State Conference next Wednesday (6 PM), when the Spikers host #9 LA Mission. Cuesta shall also open the second round of WSC play at #17 Ventura on Friday (6 PM). in their first meeting, the Cougars extended the Pirates to five sets, before falling 3-2.
