Hawks Top Folsom 6-3 to Keep Pace in the Big 8

The 10th-ranked Cosumnes River Hawks softball team posted a 6-3 home win over Folsom Lake College on Tuesday afternoon. The victory marks their sixth victory in seven games over the month of April and keeps the Hawks alone in second place in the Big 8 Conference.

"It was an exciting day because we had three home runs—kind of unusual but exciting nonetheless," said head coach Kristy Schroeder. "We could have been better defensively, but sometimes you just need to rely on your offense to carry the team."

Homeruns led to all the Hawks' offensive production. Sophia Ortiz started the hit parade with a three-run homer in the first scoring Layla Towner and Trinity Jordan. Jordan went deep in the third to score Kalie Toy. AJ Dahdouh added a rare inside the park home run in the fourth to put the Hawks up 6-2.

Dahdouh got the win in the circle pushing her record to 10-2 for the season. She struck out seven and gave up only one earned run in the victory.

Cosumnes River returns to action Thursday at American River in a make-up game and plays Saturday against Delta in a doubleheader.
