Strong start gives Lassen the edge against Lady Lobos

Last Friday Lassen traveled to compete in the Shasta College Tournament. The Lady Cougars were not able to travel Thursday to play their first game due to road conditions. Instead, they opened up Friday against Monterrey Peninsula College.

The Lady Cougars jumped out to a 22-10 lead after the first quarter. Led at half 40-18 and went on to win 61-34. Lassen were led by a balanced backcourt tandem of Syndei Collier with 18 points, Haylee Sethman with 17 points and Soleil Cariaga collected 15 points.

"We used a well-executed half-court trap to cause MPC to turn the ball over often," said Head Coach Derrick Jackson. "A win is a win but how you win counts. This gave us a three-game win streak".

The Lady Cougars will be back in action tomorrow to face San Mateo. Lassen improved to 5-8 on the young season.
