It was a historic night as Head Coach Adolfo Perez and the Los Angeles Pierce College Women's Soccer team celebrated their 500th game with a 2-1 win over LA Harbor. The win was also the 333rd win in program history.
Both the program and Coach Perez were recognized in a ceremony before the game.
The Brahmas were missing a couple of key players, however, they managed to squeeze out the win.
Freshman Payton Larsen recorded two assists. Just before the end of the first half Jocelyn Coronado was able to beat the goalkeeper on a one-on-one opportunity. Larsen would find another open teammate in the second half this time reigning student-athlete of the week Melissa Nevarez who scored her fourth goal of the season.
LA Harbor would get a goal back on a long-range shot before the end of the ga,e, but Pierce was able to control the rest of the game for the victory.
The win brought Pierce's record to 5-1-1, they will visit Evergreen Valley on Friday, Sep 20. Kick-off is at 6:30 p.m.
