Rustlers Secure First Win of the Season with Late Comeback

Golden West College Women's Soccer team earned their first victory of the 2024 season with a thrilling 2-1 comeback win on the road against LA Harbor on Friday, August 30th. After trailing midway through the second half, the Rustlers rallied with two late goals to secure the win.

The match was tightly contested, with both teams failing to find the back of the net in the first half. The action heated up in the second half, as LA Harbor struck first in the 70th minute when Samantha Sanchez scored an unassisted goal to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

Golden West responded swiftly. In the 79th minute, freshman midfielder Mollie Miskelly leveled the score with an unassisted goal, her first of the season. Just two minutes later, the Rustlers took the lead for good when Ashley Fujimori found the back of the net, also unassisted, making it 2-1.

The Rustlers' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Sierra Carter, held strong for the remainder of the match. Carter made eight saves, including several critical stops in the closing minutes, to preserve the win.
