Before last season, the San Bernardino Valley College women's volleyball team had not won a conference championship since 2006.
Now, it has conference championships in back-to-back seasons.
SBVC clinched its share of the Inland Empire Athletic Conference championship with a resounding three-set victory at Chaffey College on Wednesday evening in the Wolverines' regular season finale.
San Bernardino Valley ends the regular season with a record of 17-7, 11-1 in conference play, currently a half-game ahead of Mt. San Jacinto, which boasts a 10-1 record in conference play. The Eagles finish out the regular season at home against Chaffey on Friday. A Mt. San Jacinto win would leave the two teams sharing the title as they did last year.
Wednesday night, the SBVC offense was clicking against the Panthers (6-14, 5-6). The Wolverines converted on 44.2 percent of their attacks on the night, with Loleaulelei Mamea led the team with 13 kills in 27 attempts, with sister Manaia Mamea converting 12 kills on 18 attempts without an error. SBVC was only charged with four attack errors in the game.
SBVC now awaits their postseason fate. The Wolverines started the week ranked No. 23 in the state and No. 15 in Southern California in the state coaches poll.
