History was made Wednesday as the Compton College women's volleyball team won for the first time by the young program in a 4-set win at LA Pierce.
Compton (1-5 overall) lost the opening set but then took the next three in winning, 16-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-18.
Victoria Sibrian pounded 24 kills, hitting .538 with 17 digs to pace the triumph while Abigail Gooch added nine kills and 11 digs. Joshlynn Lopez collected 18 digs and served four aces and Brianna Mendez added 10 digs.
"At the beginning of our season, we set out to accomplish many goals. A big one was reached last night," said Compton head coach Moe Scott. "It was entirely a team effort and I'm so proud of this team. This is the first of many wins to come for this growing program."
Compton next plays at Cypress on Friday, Sept. 13 (6 p.m.) and then makes its home debut on Sept. 25 also at 6 p.m. v. Los Angeles City in a South Coast Conference crossover match.
