The Compton College men's soccer team opened the 2024 season with a home win over Imperial Valley, 3-0, on Tuesday.

After a scoreless first half, Compton netted all their goals in the final 45 minutes as Isaac Ramirez, Bryan Espita, and Edu Beltran reached paydirt.

Returning All-South Coast Conference Second Team forward Hugo Reyes picked up an assist and also with helpers were Julio Ramirez and Randy Flores. Ramirez fired five shots on goal to lead the squad in chances.

Goalkeeper Alessandro Martinez only had to make two saves for the shutout

Directed by head coach Jose Garcia, Compton has a nearly all-freshmen roster as it competes in the strongest league in California for men's soccer--the South Coast Conference.

Compton won't begin SCC play until October 8 when it hosts defending 3C2A state champion El Camino. The team will play visiting Glendale this Friday, Aug. 30 in a non-conference game at 2 p.m.
