Bulldogs Best Cerritos on Final Day of Toys for Tots Tournament

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team picked up one win and suffered two losses at the annual Toys for Tots Tournament. The three-day event was held inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium on December 5-7. | TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

The Bulldogs outlasted Cerritos College on the final day of competition after securing a 59-53 victory. They dropped games against a pair of ranked opponents in the early days with a 56-36 loss to No. 15 Fresno City College on Thursday and a 67-54 loss against No. 11 Folsom Lake College on Friday. Throughout the event, fans could receive free admission by donating an unwrapped gift at the ticketing gate as part of the annual toy drive. Toys collected during the campaign will be distributed to low-income children and families in need throughout the Santa Barbara County area.

Bree Luna led AHC on the weekend with a 17.0 points per game average, while Khaelii Robertson-Mack registered double-double averages (16.3 points, 12.3 rebounds). The sophomore forward also outrebounded all performers on the weekend by pulling down 37 boards through three contests. 

The tournament finale featured a back-and-forth affair between the Bulldogs and Cerritos with the two programs both posting identical 35.3 percent finishes from the floor. Coach Smith's squad managed to outrebound the visiting Falcons, 40-35, and saw the bench finish +18 in scoring. Luna finished Saturday's win with a season-high mark of 25 points after going 6-for-11 from the field and finishing with a perfect 10-for-10 effort from the charity stripe. Roberton-Mack notched a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double en route to the victory. 

AHC now holds a current record of 4-8 overall after the weekend event. Cerritos fell to 3-6 after a trio of losses while Fresno moved to 7-4 and Folsom Lake left with an 8-1 mark.

Hancock is scheduled to return to action by hosting the AHC Crossover event with a modified schedule. They will face LA Trade Tech College on Thursday, December 12th, before matching up with Taft College on Saturday at 3 PM. Trade Tech and Taft will play inside the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium on Friday evening at 5 PM for a neutral site showdown.  Single-day tickets for the event can be purchased ahcbulldogs.com/ticketing. As per usual, the ticketing gate will be cashless and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to arrival, but credit/debit card purchases can be made at the gate.
