Carrillo Nets 2 in Dons First Win of 2024

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Redshirt freshman forward Paul Carrillo netted two goals to lead the Santa Ana College Men's Soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Chaffey College for the first of the 2024 season.

The first score came just around the 1 and a half minute mark when a pass from sophomore midfielder Angel Magdaleno led Carillo inside the box, allowing him to bend a shot around the goalkeeper for his first goal of the season.

Chaffey responded in the 12th minute after earning a penalty kick when the ball hit the hand of a Don defender inside the box. The Panther's David Navarro put away his second goal of the young season with the free shot.

Following halftime, the Dons quickly struck again as Carrillo picked up a ball after a saved shot from Gerardo Serna, putting it in the back of the net and giving SAC the lead for good.

Play continued until the next water break and then the game was called due to extreme heat on the playing field.

The Dons will hit the road for the first time on Tuesday when they head to Long Beach City College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
