SBVC Dominant in Conference Opener

The result was never in doubt. In the end, it was seeing what the final totals would be.

San Bernardino Valley College's men's basketball team opened the game on a 17-4 run, and never looked back as the Wolverines beat Victor Valley College 109-82 in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

The Wolverines held court on both ends of the gym Wednesday night, making 51.3 percent of its shots while forcing 17 Victor Valley turnovers, holding the Rams to only 47.5 percent shooting. SBVC also held a 45-32 advantage in rebounds.

With starting point guard Shadale Knight getting into early foul trouble, the Wolverines turned to Jason Lee to help run the offense, and the sophomore delivered. He finished the game with a triple-double, scoring 15 points, pulling down 11 rebounds, and handing out 16 assists - one off the school record he posted in February. The lead benefactor of those passes was Darius Carr, who poured in a game-high 34 points - his fourth 30-plus point game of the season.

Khemmani Davis made two-thirds of his shots for 16 points, while Jason Hilliard had 12 points and eight rebounds.

SBVC takes on Chaffey at 3 p.m. Dec. 21 before heading off on its winter break.
