SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Men's Basketball pulled off an upset over the No. 11 ranked Fullerton Hornets (18-3, 7-2) in Friday's Orange Empire Confernce matchup.
The Dons (14-8, 4-5) were scrappy on defensive end of the court, forcing 20 turnovers which led to quality looks on the other end (28 points off turnovers).
Camron Swist led the Dons with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Fellow guard Mac West added 17 points and eight rebounds to provide a much needed scoring punch.
Santa Ana shot above their average in OEC play from the field, beyond the arc and at the free throw line while also getting big production from their bench as five players combined for 27 points.
Ja'Von Maxwell and Kamaury Washington accounted for 22 of the points as the sophomores continued to shine in their roles, helping lift SAC to a 75-68 win.
The Dons have now won three straight, moving them into a three way tie for fourth place in the OEC standings. The win also marks the first time SAC has beaten Fullerton since the 2014-15 season.
SAC will hit the road on Wednesday for another OEC contest against Irvine Valley. The Lasers are one of the fourth place teams with a record of 12-10, 4-5 after defeating Cypress 67-47 on Friday night.
