Women's Basketball hosted Mission College out of Santa Clara for a non-conference contest, but fell to the Saints, 74-51, in one of the cleanest games on record. The Saints and Cougars combined to commit only nine fouls on the night, including just two violations from Cuesta. The Saints jumped out in front in the first quarter, 21-16, but the Cougars held a narrow advantage at halftime, 31-30. After the break, Mission's defense clamped down on Cuesta's returning all-WSC First Team Guard Reese Pasternik, who was held to a single three-pointer in the second half and just 11 points in the contest. Cuesta's Point Guard Bella Musolff (pict-L)joined Forward Kaylee Batten (pict-R) to keep the Cougars in contention. Musolff scored a career-high 16 points and dished out five assists to lead the Cougars, while Batten added a dozen points and corralled a game-high 13 rebounds. The setback dropped the Cougars to 2-2 on the season.
Cuesta's Women Cagers are back in action tomorrow (Saturday, November 16), when they host Santa Ana for another non-conference contest at 2 PM. The Donas are currently undefeated at 4-0 on the young season.
