3C2A forms working group to address emerging developments in intercollegiate athletics
SACRAMENTO — The California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) announced Monday the formation of a working group (WG) to evaluate and navigate recent developments impacting intercollegiate athletics.
The WG will assess the implications of ongoing litigation related to participation opportunities at the NCAA level, a recent NCAA Division I Board of Directors waiver, and potential NCAA rules changes that could affect student-athletes and member institutions.
“As the landscape of college athletics continues to evolve, it is imperative that we proactively analyze and respond to these developments in a manner that upholds the best interests of our student-athletes and programs,” said Jennifer Cardone, 3C2A Executive Director. “This working group will play a critical role in helping us determine the best path forward.”
The WG, composed of key stakeholders from 3C2A member institutions as well as the state office, will review relevant 3C2A legislation and provide recommendations to the 3C2A Board of Directors and the 3C2A membership for consideration.
Additionally, providing resources to educate 3C2A student-athletes and prospective student-athletes of any rule changes impacting their participation and seasons of competition, will also be part of their scope.
