Women's soccer team shuts out Santa Ana, 3-0, on the road

The Irvine Valley women's soccer team had one of its best performances of the year on Tuesday.

The Lasers traveled to Santa Ana and defeated the Dons, 3-0, to move their record to 8-7-1 overall and 3-5-1 in conference play.

Santa Ana went to 1-11-2 overall and 0-9 in the OEC.

Irvine Valley out-shot Santa Ana, 7-2, on the afternoon and scored all three goals in the first half.

Sophomore forward Jordan Madison opened the scoring for the Lasers in the 36th minute with a goal.

Madison made it 2-0 for IVC by finding the back of the net in the 42nd minute off of an assist from freshman midfieder Megan Beal.

And IVC closed out the day with a goal by freshman defender Izzy Rodrigues from a pass by freshman midfieder Kuuipo Laumatia right before the end of the first half.

Irvine Valley's defense limited Santa Ana throughout the second half.

Sophomore goalie Sydney Salamoff, who was an all-conference player last season, recorded her sixth shutout of the season.

She only had to make two saves in the match.

Irvine Valley plays again on Friday hosting the top team in the state, Cypress, at 3 p.m.
