The women's soccer team earned their first win of the season by defeating Feather River College 2-0.The Hawks technically got a win two weeks ago, when Yuba had to forfeit the scheduled match.
While taking on the Eagles and the Sun, the Hawks got on the board in the 30th minute when Kendall Cornwell drove the ball from just outside the box into the upper corner for the first goal of the match.
The Hawks midfield controlled possession through out the match. Dominating possession led to the second goal when Ashley Annis' shot was deflected by the opposing keeper finger tips straight into Kailey Matta's path. Matta waisted no time putting the ball into the back of the net. The goal came in the 80th minute, dashing any hopes of a Feather River comeback.
The Hawks had a solid outing from keeper Mia Lemus, who with the help of her back line kept any potential scoring chances from developing into a threat. Lemus gave way to Aimee Ledezma for the final 5 minutes of the match, as the duo ensured the shut out.
Las Positas in now 2-4-1 and will be back in action Friday afternoon, as they welcome the Vikings of Diablo Valley to The Nest. Kickoff is schedule for 4 p.m.
