The Irvine Valley baseball team fell behind early in its final home game of the regular season.
The Lasers rallied, but fell to Saddleback, 9-8, in an Orange Empire Conference game.
Irvine Valley's record went to 14-25 overall and 5-15 in the OEC. Saddleback moved to 23-15 overall and 11-9 in the conference.
IVC finished with one more hit than Saddleback (15 to 14).
Irvine Valley was led by freshman rightfielder Kade Murray, who went 3 for 5 with a double, a run scored and one RBI.
The Lasers also saw freshman second baseman Chase Quezada, sophomore centerfielder Shane Stafford, freshman first baseman Jackson Snitko, freshman designated hitter Shaun McCaghren, sophomore leftfielder Darren Shorter and sophomore shortsop Conner Hoskinson each finish with two hits.
Shorter contributed two doubles and three RBI and Stafford, McCaghren had a solo homerun and freshman catcher Aaron Serrato added an RBI.
On the mound, sophomore righthander Chris Cody took the loss for the Lasers. He went five innings and gave up six runs on 10 hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Freshman righty AJ Roettger pitched three solid innings for IVC, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
IVC finishes the regular season on Friday at Saddleback at 1 p.m.
