The Irvine Valley women's basketball team earned another big win on Friday night.
The Lasers and first-year head coach Claire Gocke went on the road and defeated No. 10 in the state Cypress, 77-72, in an Orange Empire Conference game.
It was the first victory in Orange Empire Conference play for IVC.
Irvine Valley moved its record to 9-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Cypress went to 11-7 overall and 0-2 in the OEC.
It was the second win for Irvine Valley over a team ranked in the top 13 in the state in the last week.
Irvine Valley defeated previously No. 12 in the state San Diego Mesa, 46-45, last Friday at home.
IVC was led by sophomore guard Moka Saiki with 21 points. She made 5 of 7 three-pointers.
Saiki added eight assists and six rebounds in one of her best games at IVC.
Two other players scored in double figures.
Freshman wing Alexis Price had 19 points on 8 of 14 shooting from the field. Price also had 4 rebounds and two blocks.
Freshman post player Gianna DeForest contributed 16 points and six rebounds for IVC.
Freshman forward Neryah Lokeni chipped in nine points and four rebounds.
Cypress was up, 9-0, at the start of the game, but the Lasers rallied.
Irvine Valley used a 17-5 run to tie the game at 39 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lasers pulled ahead, outscoring the Chargers, 20-11, to take a 59-50 lead into the final frame.
The Lasers held on from there.
Kalysa NG led the Chargers with 22 points
IVC plays again on Wednesday, hosting Riverside in a conference game at 6 p.m.
