Spartans Control Game Against Grossmont

MiraCosta College continued its impressive start to the season with a dominant 9-0 victory over Grossmont on September 17, 2024. With this win, the Spartans improved to 3-0 in conference play and set their sights on a crucial upcoming match against undefeated Southwestern College.

MiraCosta took control early, with Lena Bachman scoring twice in the first 22 minutes, assisted by Charley Diaz and Heidi Alarcon. Diaz added another goal shortly after, and Alarcon capped off a strong first half with a goal of her own. Mackinley Menkee closed out the first half with a fifth goal, giving the Spartans a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Jade Valentine scored unassisted before Menkee netted her second goal of the day with Valentine providing the assist. Jazmyne Arispe and Alarcon each added late goals, with assists from Bachman and Arispe respectively. The team's defense was solid throughout, holding Grossmont without a single shot on goal.

The Spartans look to carry their momentum into their Friday showdown at Southwestern College in what promises to be a thrilling matchup of undefeated teams.
