Ramirez earns career win No. 100, Crush beat Taft 1-0
CLOVIS – Clovis Community College women's soccer head coach Oralndo Ramirez continues to make history with the college. Eight years after being hired to serve as the Crush's first-ever women's soccer coach, Ramirez has now earned his 100th career victory with the program thanks to his squad's 1-0 win over Taft College on Tuesday.
"We at the College are so proud of Coach Ramirez for this rare and wonderful accomplishment," said Clovis athletic director James Sewell. "As the first and only head coach in program history, he is the architect that built things from a shared vision into a nationally recognized conference champion. Most important, though, is the impact that he has had on his student-athletes, guiding them along on the path to success as they become tomorrow's leaders."
Milea Rogers can add her name to the list of the numerous goal scorers that have played for Ramirez during his Clovis Crush career. Her goal in the 87th minute of Tuesday's game proved to be the game-winner that secured the historic victory.
With Tuesday's win, Ramirez currently holds an eight-season career overall record of 100-40-22 with a winning percentage of .685 at the college. In Central Valley Conference games, he has an overall record of 70-14-6 with a .629 winning percentage.
"I'm so thankful I get the opportunity to be part of this program and couldn't be more appreciative of the student-athletes, staff, administration, and fans who have greatly contributed to our success over the years," said Ramirez. "They have laid the foundation, and I am so proud and excited for how this program will continue to grow. Vamos Crush!"
Ramirez has led the Crush to two Central Valley Conference championships (2019, 2023) and has reached the postseason in six of the past seven seasons. He had his finest year in 2023, as the Crush compiled a 20-2-2 overall record, won a CVC championship with a 15-1-1 mark, and reached the third round of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.
Ramirez will be in search of career win No. 101 on Friday (Oct. 4) when his Crush squad travels to Madera College for a 4 p.m. Central Valley Conference game.
