MiraCosta Rolls Past Cuyamaca in Conference Match

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The MiraCosta women's basketball team put together an all-around dominant performance Wednesday night, cruising past Cuyamaca 91-55 in a home victory. The Spartans showcased their offensive firepower, defensive intensity, and unselfish play to improve their record in conference action.

Leading the way was Shayla Love, who turned in a stellar performance with a game-high 25 points, 10 rebounds, and a block, securing a double-double. She shot an efficient 10-of-22 from the field and provided key baskets in a second-quarter explosion that put the game out of reach.

Reina Alamillo was a force inside, adding 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while also pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out six assists. Her presence in the paint and ability to find teammates was instrumental in MiraCosta's offensive flow.

The Spartans spread the scoring around, with Hailey Schmidt knocking down three triples en route to 13 points, and Le Aundra Walker-Brown contributing 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists, demonstrating her versatility.

From beyond the arc, MiraCosta connected on eight three-pointers, shooting a solid 36.4% from deep. The team also crashed the boards, winning the rebounding battle 51-45, including 22 offensive rebounds that led to key second-chance points.

Defensively, the Spartans were relentless, racking up 20 steals and forcing 35 turnovers, which led to numerous fast-break opportunities. Faith Behrendt played a crucial role on both ends, finishing with 10 points, four steals, and three assists.

MiraCosta dominated the second quarter, outscoring Cuyamaca 32-6, turning a close game into a commanding lead. The Spartans' ball movement and defensive pressure led to a 27-point third quarter, sealing their victory before the final period.

With this win, MiraCosta continues to build momentum as they prepare for their next matchup. The Spartans will look to carry this energy into their upcoming game as they push for a strong finish to the season.
