The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team put everything together on Friday night at home.
The Lasers earned their earned their first sweep of the season and second win on the year with a 25-22, 25-16, 27-25 Orange Empire triumph over Santa Ana.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 2-11 overall and 2-3 in conference, while Santa Ana went to 5-8 overall and 0-4 in the OEC.
IVC trailed in the first set, 21-18, before going on a four-point run to take a 22-21 lead on a block by freshman outside hitter Katell Mehaignerie.
The set was tied at 22 before IVC won the next three points to take a 1-0 lead.
Irvine Valley closed out the set with a kill by freshman opposite Hailey Oldham and then an overpass kill by Mehaignerie.
IVC carried that momentum into the second set and led comfortably from the start.
The Lasers took a 16-9 lead on an ace by sophomore outside hitter Jayva Andersen. And an ace by freshman middle blocker Valeria Leon gave the Lasers a 20-11 advantage.
A kill by sophomore outside hitter Audrey Fowler put IVC ahead, 22-15, and four points later a kill by sophomore outside hitter Alya Mersin gave IVC the second set.
Irvine Valley had to chase from behind in the third set. The Lasers trailed, 17-14, and later, 24-22, before tying the score up at 24 with a kill by Oldham.
Santa Ana took a lead at 25-24, but IVC tied it at 25 and then got kills by Oldham and Fowler to end the match.
Oldham finished with 13 kills and hit .300, Fowler finished with eight kills and a team-high 15 digs and Mersin had seven kills and nine digs for the Lasers.
Mehaignerie added five kills and hit .400 with two blocks, sophomore libero Nikki Korneff contributed 13 digs, freshman middle blocker Valeria Leon had two kills and four blocks and freshman setter Alondra Castro ran the offense with 35 assists.
Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday against Saddleback at home at 6 p.m.
