Irvine Valley men's tennis team held its lead in the Orange Empire Conference and remained the top team in Southern Caifornia with a 8-1 win over Fullerton on Thursday at home.
The Lasers won all three doubles matches and five of six in singles contests to improve their record to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in conference.
Irvine Valley has three more regular season matches left.
IVC takes on Riverside at home in a huge match on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Riverside sits one match behind the Lasers in conference play and is ranked No. 3 in So. Cal.
On Thursday, Irvine Valley received wins from freshman Lucas Diaz and Lucas Torres, freshman Patrick Riggs and sophomore Alyan Ashraf and picked up a default in doubles from Fullerton.
In singles, freshman standout Nick Grove won, 6-1, 6-1, Riggs battled to take a 6-1, 6-0, victory at No. 2, Alyan Ashraf won, 6-1, 6-3, on the third court, sophomore Sergio Jardas came out on top, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 4 and IVC picked up another default win on the sixth court.
