The Irvine Valley men's basketball team fell behind by 10 points to start the game, but found its rhythm and battled back to beat Orange Coast, 64-52, in an Orange Empire Conference game on the road Wednesday night.
IVC captured its third game in a row.
It looked good early on for the Pirates as they jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the opening five minutes of play.
IVC missed its first four shots and committed six turnovers over that span as they tried to break the helter-skelter OCC defense.
But the Pirate offense ran dry over the final 15 minutes of the first half as the Lasers scored 26 of the final 37 points of the opening to carry a 26-21 advantage into the locker room.
Irvine Valley came out fast in the opening minutes of the second half, pushed the lead to 32-21.
The Lasers pretty much cruised from there.
IVC's defense locked in after the beginning of the game.
Coast struggled from the floor, shooting just 28.1 percent (16 of 57) and just 26.5% from 3-point range (9 of 34).
IVC ended up shooting 52.1 percent (25 of 48) for the game.
For the Lasers, freshman forward Matt Mowers, sophomore guard Ammon Allan and freshman guard Allen Moser led the way with 13 points each. Allan also had six rebounds and three assists and Moser chipped in four assists.
Sawyer Clemett led OCC with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 11-8 overall and 3-3 in conference.
IVC plays again at home in a conference game on Friday against Saddleback at 6 p.m.
